There seem to be plenty of meetups for SAHMs, but its harder to find folks interested in meeting on weekends and weekday evenings, so this group is designed especially for working parents who would like to establish new friends for themselves and their child(ren) aged around 1-3 years old. (Older and younger siblings are welcome, too!) (Stay-at-home moms and dads are also very welcome, but the main objective of this group is to schedule events outside of the standard workweek, so that working p …
Imagine lively people-scaled communities dotting the San Francisco Bay Area - places co-created by their residents for raising kids, for retirement, for growing food or simply living well by sharing more. The Bay Area already has ecovillages, and cohousing neighborhoods, resident-owned housing cooperatives, and group houses -- real world places where we can live more sustainably through a more cooperative way of life. You can have both privacy and community when you know your neighbors on pu …

If we leave it to the local news, Oakland’s reputation will be forever linked to the same old storylines: Art Murmur, racial tension, Brooklynization*, and crime. How can we work together to reveal the deeper story? Maybe you’ve been blogging for a while and want to meet new local people. Maybe you want to increase your social media presence. Maybe you’re new to the area and full of stuff to say, and you need new connections to grow your audience. Or maybe you’ve always wanted to blog and just …

Would you be TOTALLY excited to see water-guzzling, pollution-producing, "seen-and-not-touched" lawns, replaced by edible gardens and drought-tolerant native plant landscaping? Do you believe, like I do, that if one or two of those GIANT homes in upscale neighborhoods (or tiny homes in the flats) were to replace most of their front and back lawns with gorgeously eco-scaped edible gardens, other neighbors would follow suit...? Especially if there was a massive PR campaign highlighting the transfo …
